The Castafiore Emerald is the twenty-first volume of The Adventures of Tintin comic series created by Belgian cartoonist Hergé. It stands out as the most unconventional, localized, and anti-adventure book in the entire series. 

Unlike Tintin's usual globe-trotting journeys, the plot takes place entirely at Captain Haddock's ancestral home, Marlinspike Hall. While the Captain is confined to a wheelchair nursing a sprained ankle, the flamboyant opera singer Bianca Castafiore arrives for an uninvited visit. Chaos breaks out due to media attention, bizarre local occurrences, and the sudden, mysterious disappearance of Castafiore's immensely valuable emerald. 

• Conceived by Hergé as a pure narrative exercise to see if he could maintain reader suspense for 62 pages without utilizing any traditional high-stakes villains, gunfights, foreign travel, or genuine danger.
• The entire storyline is built intentionally on red herrings, misunderstandings, everyday domestic mishaps, and false alarms. 
• book focuses heavily on character interactions, running gags, the introduction of a local Roma community, and chaotic, faulty inventions from Professor Calculus.
