The story begins on a hot evening when young reporter Tintin and his loyal dog Snowy spot an enormous, glowing star in the sky. After visiting an astronomical observatory, Tintin learns from Professor Phostle that a massive meteorite is on a direct collision course with Earth, threatening an imminent apocalypse. Fortunately, the planet is spared a direct cataclysmic impact; instead, a large fragment of the meteorite plunges directly into the Arctic Ocean. [1

When scientists discover that the fallen meteorite contains a completely new, highly valuable metal with extraordinary properties, an international race begins. Tintin, Snowy, and Captain Haddock join Professor Phostle’s European scientific expedition aboard the ship Aurora. They set sail for the frozen north, only to find themselves competing against a ruthless, well-funded rival business syndicate. The journey becomes a treacherous race against time, filled with dangerous sea hazards, mechanical problems, and constant sabotage attempts by their rivals. [

Upon reaching the floating island of meteorite rock, Tintin discovers that the alien metal causes surreal biological anomalies, including the instantaneous, explosive growth of giant fungi and massive insects. Tintin must brave this unstable, strange environment and his rivals' final acts of desperation to secure a sample of the metal before the meteorite sinks forever into the ocean.
